Why did I choose the Ford F250 Super Duty with the Tremor package as my pickup truck of choice?
I did not buy a pickup truck because it is a cool vehicle. I have a very specific use case for why I decided to buy a pickup truck and especially why I decided on a full-size truck. My use case is manifold.
My main goal is to travel. I want to be able to travel offroad as much as possible and I want to be able to live out of my truck or better out of a camper in the back. I will write another blog post about how and why I selected the camper that I ordered, but for here right now all that matters is that I want to put a camper in the back of the pickup truck.

So, the ability to carry a certain amount of weight was critical and that lead me to select a full-size pickup truck like the Ford F250. In addition, I want to travel full-time for many years and potentially go off the beaten path as much as possible on as many continents as possible. Yes, you heard that right – I want to travel to several continents.
Ford F250 Super Duty Tremor
Over the years I owned vehicles from Ford and from what was Chrysler back in the day. I had several Jeeps and even – cough cough – owned a Dodge Grand Caravan mini-van for 3 years. All Jeeps and the Dodge started falling apart early and while the repairs were cheap, the overall reliability of these vehicles was just not there.
The current RAM pickup trucks look very cool and they seem to be capable vehicles for my purpose, but when I look around – I see way more old Ford F150s, F250s, and Ford F350s than seeing older RAMs. Yes, there are some but they are by far outnumbered by older Fords. But don’t judge me, this is me based on my own experience with having owned Ford and Chrysler vehicles. I like the RAMS, but I am planning many years of full-time travel across several continents and so the reliability of a vehicle is critical.

In 2020 Ford released the first F250 Tremor and it became an immediate hit with buyers. Super Duty reliability paired with offroading capabilities right from the factory. This caught my interest when I found out about it. The after-market support for the Super Duty trucks is phenomenal which really made this an appealing vehicle for me. The Tremor comes with 35″ tires, and some skidplates, and it can go through 33″ deep water crossings because Ford sealed the cab and certain engine parts as part of the Tremor package.
As I am planning to travel full-time I decided I want to do this in style and not have to rough it too much. I am single and it would be just my dog and me out on the road when we start traveling next year. I wanted enough room and comfort in the cab of the truck for both of us + have room for occasional guests or travel partners. Shelby, my Yellow Lab will own the rear seat area of the truck. She will have a platform in the back with a doggie bed and I am planning on getting an access ramp for her as well. She is over 9-years old at this point and her hips are the greatest at this point (this breed is known for hip and joint problems).
For my own personal comfort, I want heated and cooled/ventilated seats and plenty of space. I will live and work out of my truck and camper, so having space is important. My truck has a moonroof which I like a lot as well. There are a lot of other comfort features, but I will spare you the time.
