My 2022 Ford F250 Super Duty Tremor was purchased with a very specific use case in mind. I will turn this truck into a high offroad capable expedition vehicle for long-term travel. Thing is – you cannot buy an expedition vehicle that will fit your needs unless you are filthy rich and can order a custom-built Earthroamer.
Well, I do not fall into that category and so I will do it the old-fashioned way – I will convert a stock vehicle to my liking and call it good when it meets most of my needs.
I chose the Tremor package for several reasons. The truck comes with a slip differential in the front and has an actual rear locker in the back. It has additional water-proofing done from the factory and can safely drive through water of up to 33 inches in depth.

So, why am I planning upgrades to my truck? Doesn’t it sound like it can do some crazy shit already?! You are totally right to think that way, but I want to go further. I want to travel full-time in this vehicle and go to places that most other “normal” offroad vehicles cannot get to.
My shopping list for the truck is quite long I would not be surprised if by the end I will have spent over $200,000 in fitting out this vehicle to my liking. Let’s get into some details.
- Suspension Upgrade for better ride quality and more ground clearance + to be able to safely carry a decent amount of weight (slide-in camper in the back)
- 37″ tires and upgraded wheels
- Onboard Air Compressor
- Winch
- Steel rear bumper with dual swingout arms
- Steel front bumper
- Solar panels to support the 2 onboard truck batteries (not to be confused with a second solar and battery system that is added as well as part of a camper setup)
- Offroad lights (front, A-pillar, rear, etc.)
- Extra window tint
- Recovery gear
- Additional power switches for lights, compressor, etc.
- Skidplates
- Console Safe
- Aluminum lockable storage box for rear bumper
- Tailgate table
- Front Camera
- Additional security system and features
- Cab upgrades to accommodate additional electronics and gear (GoPro, iPad, Garmin InReach, etc.)
- High-end slide-in popup camper

I am 100% sure that this list is incomplete and that it will grow over time, but for now, I am following a certain timeline that is based on when the popup camper is being built. The current estimate is the availability of the camper in late July or early August of 2023. As we get closer to August 2023 I will provide more detail about which camper I ordered and how it is equipped.
Completed Upgrades (as of 11/01/2022)
- ARB Dual Air Compressor installed above spare tire with 2.5 Gallon Air Tank
- Cab windows tinted – including windshield
- Recovery gear (Kinetic rope, recovery boards, tire repair kit, tools, shackles, etc.)
- Winch ordered, but has not yet arrived for installation
- Console Vault/Safe onsite, but not installed yet
